Two Serving Metropolitan police officers and one retired office have been arrested as part of the Independent Police Complaints Commission’s (IPCC) investigation into the death of Sean Rigg while in police custody in August 2008, Brixton Police Station.
A prolonged Inquest that highlighted the IPCC’s negligence in the investigation into Sean Rigg death, forcing a new investigation to be carried out by the IPCC has led to 3 officers being arrested.
The original case discovered how basic procedures of health and safety were disregarded, leading to the death of Sean Rigg In police custody along with a severely flawed investigation carried out by the IPCC. Ken Faro’s documentary ‘Who Policies the Police?’ shows both the actions of the officers involved and the following IPCC investigation to be woefully inadequate.
Last August, 200 people took part in Sean Rigg’s Memorial, where by the Rigg family pledged to continue fighting for justice and to reveal the real circumstances behind Sean’s death. Hundreds of families and supporters rallied and protested at Downing Street in the 14th UFFC annual march in October.
The arrest of two serving Metropolitan Police Officers and one retired officer on suspicion of perjury and perverting the court of justice reveals the extent in which the cover-up of Sean Rigg’s death has gone to, almost 5 years later.

Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigators have today (Wednesday, 27 March) arrested two serving and one retired Metropolitan Service Police (MPS) officers in connection with the on-going investigation into evidence given at the inquest into Sean Rigg’s death.
• Police Sergeant A, 50, was arrested at his place of work on suspicion of perjury and perverting the course of justice;
• Police Constable B, 29, was arrested at an address in south London on suspicion of perjury and perverting the course of justice;
• Retired Police Constable C, 48, was arrested by appointment at a central London police station on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
All three are being questioned by IPCC investigators at a central London police station.
IPCC investigators have carried out searches at their home addresses and the serving officers’ workplaces.
