In less than 12 hours over 2700 people have signed up against the protest ban at Sussex Uni. A very good response to the recent attempts to quash the protest movement can be read here.
The good news is that today the defence was given more time to prepare their case against eviction - with the hearing being adjourned until tomorrow (Thurs) at 2pm. See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-21951964.
This is at the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand, London - please come down and show your support if you can. (meet up at 1.30pm)
We are also appealing to people to write personal letters outlining why they support the campaign against privatisation, in particular defending the importance of the occupation as a legitimate and specific means by which students and the wider university community have, and should, defend education. Please email info@defendtherighttoprotest
Today hundreds attended a protest to show their determination to continue to struggle over the issues at stake. There will be other calls for action and solidarity which you can look out for on www.defendtherighttoprotest.org and http://sussexagainstprivatization.wordpress.com/, as well as on our facebook pages and twitter accounts.
I hope the counsel tomorrow at the High Courts has got access to the bundle of papers used by Brian Haws defense team whilst defending his demonstration camp and occupation at Parliament Sq. also the papers used whilst defending St Paul;s Occupation. .
I’m guessing that email address is supposed to end in .org? I’ve just sent a letter to that, hope you get it in time!
