Students and workers today protested against University Minister, David Willets, at SOAS, where he was due to deliver a speech that had not been advertised.
A large number of students and staff protested outside, and about 30 gained access to the foyer of the lecture theatre where they began chanting against education cuts. Some protestors were thrown down the stairs, and many more to the ground by police and security. Outside, several protestors were arrested and violently wrestled to the ground.
These peaceful protestors have been to Holborn and Albany Street Police Stations.
A large solidarity demonstration is happening outside the Holborn Police Station on Lambs Conduit St.
We are calling on all those who wish to defend the right to protest to call the police station and/or demonstrate outside.
UPDATE: the protest is now over.
