Following the fantastic national demonstration yesterday of up to 2000 people, Sussex University management have taken out a high court injunction against the occupation to ban all protest on the campus till September. This is a tactic that has been tried before, and failed. Help make sure it does. Protest outside the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand tommorow Weds 27th March 9.30am before the possession hearing. Royal Courts of Justice, the Strand, WC2A 2LL
Is anyone able to provide a copy of this injunction?
Even if the injunction goes through it is not worth the paper it is written on. A penal notice DOES NOT contain a power of arrest, so if you are in breach of an injunction you cannot be arrested. You have to be served personally with committal papers, then there has to be a hearing to commit you.
An injunction will not prevent demonstrations without Sussex Uni’s permission (which they are never going to give anyway).
Occupy Sussex needs to make it very clear in a public statement if the injunction goes through, that you cannot be arrested for coming to future demonstrations that have not been granted permission.
Any pictures of the demo today up in London?
