Over 10,000 people are anticipated to attend todays NUS demonstration for education.
Defend the Right to Protest will at the demonstration with bust cards, along with Green and Black Cross/Haldane Society who will also be legal observing.
Make sure to get your bust card and get clear about your basic rights. (see below) Stick together, stay warm and have a great day protesting!
Your Rights: 1. You have the right to remain silent and the right to say “No comment in interview. We advise you do not answer questions or sign anything (whether it be in a van or interview or otherwise) without first speaking to an independent legal adviser.
2. You have the right to free, independent legal advice from a solicitor/firm of your choice. It is not quicker to be interviewed without a solicitor. 3. At the police station, have someone to be told of your arrest. We recommend contacting the GBC helpline. You should also ask for a copy of PACE Codes of Practice for your rights in detail.
