Against the backdrop of global economic crisis, we have seen resistance explode across the world from the general strikes, occupations and mass demonstrations against austerity in Greece to the revolutions in the Arab world. These movements are often met with incredible violence from the police and the state.
Although Defend the Right to Protest is based and campaigns in the UK, we extend our solidarity to protestors across the world.
We stand in solidarity with the miners on strike in South Africa and the 34 who were murdered by the police at Marikana and with the demonstrators who are behind bars, from Pussy Riot in Russia to the Palestinian prisoners who went on hunger strike.
We support and work with international solidarity campaigns from Quebec to Egypt.
