Hannah has been at the Jimmy Mubenga inquest these last few days - by all accounts the gall of the G4S officers is appalling. You can read the court transcripts here, but these are Hannah’s observations.
Defend the Right to protest has spent time in the public gallery of Jimmy’s Mubengas Inquest this week. The passenger witness statements and evidence of G4S security have been shocking in the callous treatment of Jimmy they reveal and that of so many deported (or overseas escort as they like to describe it) by G4S. In the same days we were hearing of the vile racism being shared by texts amongst G4S security guards about “illegal immigrants” and statements in which Jimmy screaming was said to be shouting for his life including pleading to passengers to “help me”, and to the guards “your killing me” G4S also announced a 1.2 million pound pay off for its Chief Exec Nick Buckles who is “stepping down” after the Olympics debacle (see http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2013/may/21/g4s-nick-buckles-quits). Sam and Marci Rigg, sisters of Sean Rigg who died in police custody, have been amongst those attending the court in solidarity with Jimmy’s wide Adrienne Kambana.
We encourage people to go down – starting from Tuesday next week.
