Massive inconsistencies in the police’s line has emerged in the investigation into the killing of Anthony Grainger, shot dead by armed police last year.
As Siân Ruddick writes, in Socialist Worker, “Over 100 police officers were involved in a covert surveillance operation of an innocent man weeks before he was shot dead by the same force.”
In addition,
“None of the logs describe the men carrying weapons or suggest the police suspected they were carrying them.
Yet a briefing from a senior police officer in Operation Shire to an armed response team claimed that the men were highly dangerous and likely to shoot at police.”
What this suggests is that the police has, yet again, attempted to cover up its murder of a young man through lies and corruption.
Our thoughts go out to Anthony’s mother in her struggle for justice.

Siân has also reported on two other deaths in custody that have sadly taken place this week, almost completely under the radar of the mainstream media. Here and here.
